While connected to the long history of both clay work and printmaking, clay monoprinting is a relatively new art form. Read more about it in my article, Art of the Clay Monoprint.
Like to see, purchase or learn about clay monoprints in person? The Visual Realia Studio was opened in February of 2019, in downtown Gettysburg. Located in Studio 207 on the top floor of the wonderful Adams County Arts Council, you can browse the collection of both monoprints and photography works.
In addition, you can schedule a session to learn about the process and make your own print! You can work by yourself, or with a small group up to a total of six participants. (For one to three people, each will have their own clay slab to work with. From 4 to 6 people, you’ll work in pairs, but in both cases, everyone leaves with their own unique monoprint.)
Commissioned pieces are a great way to provide a truly unique gift or to decorate your home or office space. You’ll be able to talk to the artist to establish your desired criterions, such as a thought, word or phrase, color palette, or concept.
